There were skits, arts and crafts, snacks, and Bible lessons for the kids.
I remember VBS when I was growing up.
I remember that I learned the word “tender-hearted” and “compassionate” when I was about 9 years old. I really liked those words and still do. I remember having Cool-Aid and cookies. The cold taste of that syrupy, red sweetness going down my throat.
VBS can be really tiring — four nights in a row — but it’s wonderfully, resplendent with all of those kids who are learning about God.
I’m also including a couple of scanned pictures of a vintage pipe cleaner box that I have around my house. It reminds me of the pipe cleaners, Crayola crayons, construction paper, and paste that we used for arts and crafts at VBS, when I was a young child.
