Introducing www.sweetgumlife.com!

The new and improved Write Steph at home with the sweetgum trees.

Dearest Readers,

It’s with much anticipation that I Introduce my new and improved blog, www.sweetgumlife.com!

I am so excited to launch my new blog, after posting at www.thewritesteph.com since March 3, 2013.

Although I’m a little sad to let TheWriteSteph go, I am happy to begin anew with a name that fits my niche better and that hasn’t been taken by social media.

www.Sweetgumlife.com focuses on the beauty of a simple life with faith, warmth, nostalgia, and humor. Sweetgumlife.com shares life and southern culture from a wife and mom’s perspective. It highlights people who are trying to make even a small difference in their small sphere of influence by showing love and everyday kindness.

Sweetgumlife.com strives for relevant posts for the current day while maintaining old-fashion values. Photos are often vintage, quirky, and artistic, while stories include both fiction and non-fiction.

Because I want to keep each of my loyal followers, I have hand-selected some wonderful businesses to donate prizes for each business day in February 2017!

Be sure to pop on over to www.Sweetgumlife.com in February 2017 to win!

May God richly bless each of you!

Hugs,
Stephanie

Pin or Pitch — Harrison Brothers Wall Art

So I bought these pieces of wood from Harrison Brothers a few weeks back. Wood glue didn’t hold the wood to an old piece of laminate flooring that I found in my Dad-in-Law’s junk pile. Instead, I nailed each piece to the laminate with some trim nails that I had on hand. One piece split… Continue Reading

Beautiful Stoneridge Homes

Yesterday I met and interviewed Jim and Kim Wright, owners and builders of some of the most beautiful homes in the Tennessee Valley. I will be writing an article for them for one of my freelance writing jobs. I got to tour one of their Stoneridge Homes in a planned community appropriately named The Meadows.… Continue Reading

Vendors wanted for Blog Extravaganza!

As you can see, I’ve got a pile of business cards to go through. These are actually the cards that I filtered out of a huge stack! I’m hoping to contact each of these to find cool giveaway prizes for my new blog launch in February! I’d like to award my dear Readers somehow for… Continue Reading

Can having a Baby Later in Life Equal Mom Longevity?

Did you hear that actress Betty White turned 95 years old today? Happy Birthday! From info that I gathered on the Internet, she doesn’t have any biological children. Which kind of goes against an article that I found on HealthDay News, “Do Women Who Have Kids Later Live Longer?” So the study considers “older”… Continue Reading

What I got done; What I didn’t get done

I know this blog isn’t all about me (nor is life), but here’s what’s going on in the life of an average (albeit quirky) American housewife and work-at-home mom: I know I promised that I’d post my art creation from the architecture stuff that I bought last Saturday at the Harrison Brothers’ basement. BTW, I… Continue Reading

Down the Architectural Rabbit Hole.

Every first and third Saturday of the month, architectural treasure hunters can make their way down the creaky steps to the Harrison Brothers basement. There you’ll find all types of goodies to upcycle into art projects and home decor. I went last Saturday and found some old wood that I’m going to glue together to… Continue Reading

Could 2017 Start any Worse?

I know…we’re just 6 days in and the Robertsons have already experienced 3 catastrophes in 2017! Most on them occurred on Monday, a gloomy, rainy day. Lefty calls it “the water day.” For a few days, the hot water heater had been leaking. Fix-it guy that he is, Lefty set out to work on it… Continue Reading
