Good-natured Charlotte “Charli” McAntic has spent her entire adult life happily caring for family, relishing her career, and loving her husband Pud, but her catapult into retirement and the Golden Years brings on a few unexpected surprises.
Rather than spending time with Charli, Pud seems to prefer the golf course.
RSVP by Jena C. Henry tells about Charli’s plot to bring Pud back to her arms while making a difference in her extended family’s lives.

How did you start writing?
I always wanted to write a book. And my husband turned to me and said, ‘Well, then you’d better get started! What are you waiting for?’ So I did! I finally did it.
When my husband was prodding me to write, he said, ‘Why didn’t you do this a lot sooner?’ I replied, ‘Well, Hon, think about it. 30 years ago, what would I have written on? I’d have to have written it on a typewriter. And then what would I have done with it?’ There wasn’t Kindle, eBooks, the whole Internet that you could start learning and getting advice from–what would I have done in Akron, Ohio with this pile of paper? I’m sure other people have figured it out, but just me and my world, I just thought, ‘No, that just doesn’t seem possible for me.’ So now with Amazon, it seemed a lot more possible.
How did you get the idea of Charli?
My own experiences, my friends’ experiences. You know, life. Writing should entertain people, and it should also help people. So that’s what I try to do. I try to give a positive message and a positive way to look at life but have some fun with it, too.
It sounds like you and your husband are really close, did you have the same issues as Charli and her husband?
I would say that it’s a book. I had to exaggerate things. Even when you try to make a book positive and happy, you still need some ups and downs. You need some problems, so I really over-amplified it and based it on other people, too.
Charli seems so positive, would you consider yourself positive, too?
Oh, absolutely! I think when I was younger, you kind of have more issues and feel things so strongly. And I finally realized and I finally realized that every day is a wonderful day. Just enjoy it. I try to encourage other people, because I have been blessed with a really good life. I don’t even feel like the word ‘failure’ applies to humans. Tires can fail, businesses can fail, but human beings–sometimes you pick one path and you think, yeah, you should have taken the other path. All mistakes are fixable, and you’re never a failure. As long as you wake up in the morning and you try again, you can never be a failure.
