How to Transform Your Craft Room in 2018

Hi Everyone! Here are some ideas of how to transform your craft room in 2018!

  1. Gather ideas.
  2. One step at a time.
    1. Be realistic.
      1. Get a buddy.
        1. But dream big!

Gather ideas.

Pinterest is the obvious source for finding sweet craft ideas for your home. Decide what you like, what’s practical, and what’s within budget. I’m also posting friends of Sweetgum Life to steer you in the creative direction.

Intelligent Domestications: Shirley is also into week two. She cleared off a heaving utility table and bought some hanging baskets.

Pam at P.S. I Love You unearthed her craft table and chair. Oh, the clutter that finds a flat surface…right?

Yami posts at the Latina Next Door. She cleared out her whole room and painted! Wow, girl! Like me, it looks like she’s a big Sherwin-Williams fan.

Jolene, the carpenter’s daughter, purged at Create, Pray, Love. I’ve got to do that, too.

Organization was the order of the day for Megan at C’mon Get Crafty.

Erlene has her whole makeover scheduled at My Pinterventures.

And Val at Val Event Gal is well on her way to getting rid of paper clutter.  (I wish she’d come over to my house and help me with mine!)

One step at a time.

If you’re a busy wife and mom like me, your time is limited. Hey, if you’re a busy non-wife and non-mom, I get that, too. I remember being single (ages ago) and flopping down after work, too tired for much else. Point is, if you’re busy, try to do one thing at a time. I settled for just moving my plastic bins out of the craft room. That cleared out a h-u-g-e amount of space in my home. At this point, I’ve got a cozy corner that’s free for home design. Yes!

Cleared out the storage bins.

Be realistic.

Life happens. The tires wear out, the kids get sick…or your computer fritzes out. The latter happened to me yesterday. I had to wait until Lefty (my left-handed, left-brain hubby) got home to fix it. (Operator error, as it turns out. No surprise there!!) So I didn’t get to post this blog with all my craft room makeover blogging buddies until today.

So you’ve got to be realistic with your time, resources, money, or whatever.

Get a buddy.

Speaking of buddies, I’m posting along with a host of other bloggers in this Craft Room Makeover. Accountability = getting goals met!

Dream big!

Again, you’ve got to operate within your budget, but this southern mama is determined to have a beautiful, functional, organized craft room by January 31st! My design goals are to give it a pretty, pink cottage look.

So I hope you’ll join in with me in the Craft Room Makeover! One of my other local pals replied on Instagram that she’s doing it, too. Way to go, B!!!

The Sunny Sunflower Field

The other day, I drove past this beautiful field of Sunflowers in a sunny field in the country near Athens, Alabama. Love!!! What southerner doesn’t love sunflowers? I surely do! Down the Architectural Rabbit Hole.

Every first and third Saturday of the month, architectural treasure hunters can make their way down the creaky steps to the Harrison Brothers basement. There you’ll find all types of goodies to upcycle into art projects and home decor. I went last Saturday and found some old wood that I’m going to glue together to… Continue Reading
